Introduction

One of the main advantages to living in a fraternity is the social and brotherhood aspect. Being a member of Acacia provides many opportunities to build friendships and meet people in the Greek Community. As an incoming freshman there is nothing that will help more when adjusting to college than having a welcoming social environment.

Brotherhood Events

Aside from the random 1 AM trip to dairy queen or usual hanging out around the house our brotherhood chair organizes a big brotherhood event every week. These events range from going out to dinner early on a Friday, going bowling at the Memorial Union Underground, or just renting a movie. During the football season many of the members also go host tailgates together. We will also use the social budget to pay for at least one major brotherhood event during the semester such as playing paintball or going skiing.

Intramurals

Exercise and participating in intramurals are very important to the members of Acacia. Every week there are intramurals available for members to participate in that range from curling to broomball to wrestling. Our athletics chair organizes all the teams from our house so it is easy for anyone to participate, especially if you are having a busy week and just want to get some exercise and have some fun for a couple hours. Intramurals are a good way to bond with your brothers, represent your chapter and compete against other fraternities.

Social Events

During the semester our social chair will arrange several social events with other sororities and fraternities. You will find that the people you make friends with in other fraternities will help support you and your chapter throughout your years in college. You would never know that your future wife could be the sorority girl you meet at one of the social events!

Greek Community Events: Homecoming, Greek Week, and Varieties

Homecoming and Greek Week are a series of competitions during the fall and spring (respectively) where our house joins a "pairing" with another sorority and fraternity to compete against other "pairings." We compete in a range of events from community service events to "Yell like Hell." Homecoming and Greek Week are times of collaboration among the Greek Community and an opportunity to get to know people from other fraternities and sororities.

Varieties is a single event during the Winter where our chapter forms another pairing to create and perform a 20 minute musical.
