We are now partnering with Youth and Shelter Services (YSS), an organization started in Ames to improve the lives of underprivileged youth and help them grow into productive adults. YSS is helping to instill values that the children will carry with them throughout their lives, like self-reliance, forgiveness and respect. Since 2011, Acacia has supported YSSís Great Relationships in Pairs (GRIP) Mentoring program through our Acacia Root Beer Floats fundraiser. We have also co-sponsored a 5K run, competed in a chili cook off fundraiser, and participated in donation drives to benefit GRIP. Several of our brothers also volunteer as mentors. A majority of our members also serve our community through their efforts with organizations such as Ames Emergency Residency Project, Foot at First, Students Helping Our Peers, Freestore, Student Volunteer Services. Human Service plays a large role in the lives of the men of Acacia. Learn More>> †
At Acacia, we are proud of our chapter facility. We maintain a home-like atmosphere with twenty-four hour open kitchens, suite style living, no cold airs, and in many cases, private bathrooms. Our current facility was originally a bed-and-breakfast, and we have occupied it since our re-colonization in 2000. The building features modern amenities including wifi, ethernet, cable TV, and a recently renovated study library and basement. Take a virtual tour>>
