Introduction

Acacia is known as the premier academic fraternity at Iowa State University, but what is unique about our chapter is that we do not have regular mandatory study hours. Instead we offer academic assistance and incentives in the form of scholarships. We try hard to help all of our members develop good study habits, time management skills, and an internal motivation for success because that is what will help make them successful when it comes time for them to enter the job world.

We have been given awards for outstanding academic achievement for the past 8 semesters

Accomplishments

In 2006, over half of all members of the fraternity were on the Dean’s List and our academic programming was rated #1 internationally among all Acacia chapters. For the Fall 2006 semester, our chapter was ranked #1 among the 28 other fraternities at Iowa State University, a position we have held for 8 semester in a row.

Academic Assistance

As a part of our academics program, if any member of the house needs tutoring in a specific class and can not find a brother in the house who can help them, our chapter pays for that member to get the tutoring they need from the university.

Financial Support and Scholarships

Our scholarships program is one of the best developed at Iowa State, offering nearly $20,000 in scholarships annually to the Iowa State Chapter from the Acacia Fraternity Foundation. These scholarships are awarded based on individual member leadership and academic achievement. One of our main academic scholarships is a $300 scholarship awarded to each member who achieves a 3.0 or better grade point average during a specific semester. This scholarships can be earned every semester during an active members enrollment at Iowa State.

On average, our new members received $1,225 in scholarships during the 2006-2007 academic year.
