Service

Adelante Fraternity puts together two philanthropies in both the spring and fall sememsters every year. These two philanthropies are designated to helping out local foundations such as the Ames Emergency Residency Shelter.

The spring philanthropy is Veisha Dunk tank and the profits gained have been used to donate to the Ames Emergency Residency Shelter or any other local foundation. We put this philanthropy on the Friday and Saturday night of Veisha Weekend outside in front of our Chapter on 318 Welch Ave. We have found great success in this philanthropy due to our location and timing of putting it on. Who doesn’t want to dunk some students on a chilly April night when the temps are in the 50’s to 40’s most generally. Fifty cents will get you one ball to throw and a dollar will get you two balls to throw. So if you’re out and about on Veisha Weekend come on out and throw a couple balls for a good cause!

Our Fall philanthropy has become a bratwurst dinner and the proceeds from this event are also used to sponsor the Ames Emergency Residency Shelter or another local foundation. This is a fun philanthropy to do with great food to eat. This philanthropy is a reletively new idea that we had had this past semester from what we used to do in the fall which was a swing-a-thon in which members of the house would swing for two days straight to raise money for a local nonprofit organization.

Community service is also an act that members of Adelante are all encouraged to participate in on their own and within the fraternity itself. Adelante always participates in Veisha Service day which is a day that many of the greek houses and people from the university and residents alike come together to help pick up the Ames community so that it looks nice for the Veisha activities.

Our website is currently under construction. Soon you'll be able to take a look around and get an idea of all that this organization hopes to offer to the students of Iowa State University in the very near future.
