Alpha Gamma Rho is a profesesional and social Agricultural Fraternity which helps to form a common bond among members. Almost all members that belong to AGR have an agricultural major. Alpha Gamma Rho consists of an 80 to 85 member fraternity in which all members live within the house.

This fall we are looking for 25 to 30 young men to join for the coming semester. The AGR recruitment chairs spend much of the summer traveling the midwest and visiting potential members of Alpha Gamma Rho. Housing  

  • 80 men live in the house in two, three, or five person rooms.
  • Complete house renovation and addition completed in October 1993.
  • Living room refurbished in 1996.
  • House located one block from campus with parking available nearby.

  • Housemother serves as "mom away from home" by helping with assignments, etiquette, or any problems that AGR members may have.
  • Hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided on the weekdays.

Scholarship  

  • AGR consistently ranks in the top three in scholastic standing among the 34 fraternities at Iowa State.
    Fall 2004: AGR's GPA was third among fraternities with a 3.05.
    Spring 2005: AGR's GPA was 3.15, which was second among fraternities.
    Fall 2005: AGR's GPA was 3.05, which was third among fraternities.
  • AGR has received the ISU President's Award for Fraternal Excellence nine times since 1991.
  • AGR Educational Foundation provides interest free loans up to $1500 and pays for 50% of all tutorial costs.
  • AGR quiet hours are enforced from 7:00 to 10:00 pm Sunday through Thursday.
  • AGR has an in-house library that can be utilized "24/7".
  • AGR has a large, accessible computer lab for members to use, consisting of six IBM computers, a laser printer, a copier, scanner, web access, and a fax machine.
  • Summer 2006 AGR will be installing wireless internet throughout the house.

  • VEISHEA 2006: General Co-Chair, 10 members on Executive Board, and 20 other AGR's involved.
  • Student Alumni Leadership Council 2004: Homecoming Co-Chair, 3 others on Homecoming.
  • Family Weekend 2006: General Co-Chair, and 3 Committee Members
  • Varieties: 3 Varieties Central Members, 10 brothers participating
  • 2 Presidents and 24 members in Swine Interest Group, Beef Interest Group, and Farm Operations Clubs
  • Block and Bridle: 2 members on the Executive Board, and 16 AGR's involved
  • ISU Judging Team: 2 AGR's on the Livestock Judging Team and 1 on the Meat Evaluation Team
  • ISU Ag Council: 3 representatives
  • National Agri-Marketing Association: President, 1 executive members
  • FFA: State President, 1 State Vice-President
  • Honor Societies: AGR's are members of Cardinal Key, Order of Omega, Alpha Zeta, Mortar Board, and Alpha Lambda Delta/Phi Eta Sigma
  • Greek Week: General Co-chair, 5 executive members
  • ISU Freshman Council: President, 1 executive member, and 10 committee members
  • Government of the Student body: 2 Senators, 1 Committee Vice-Chair
  • President's Leadership Class: 1 Member

  • Living at AGR costs less than the ISU residence halls or apartments per semester
  • Actual cost: Room & Board $1200 + Meals $900 = $2100/ semester
