Parent Info

You may be wondering what your daughter has been up to during her stay at Iowa State. If she is apart of Alpha Sigma Kappa you can bet she is having an AMAZING time. We do all sorts of activities from philanthropy events including Scout it Out and Science Olympiad to exciting sisterhood acitvities.

We have a sorority formal every year, sisterhood retreats, and social acitvities with other members in the Greek community. These events vary somewhat, but typically there is a movie or a dinner with other fraternaties and/or sororities. Our sisterhood retreats are always awesome, we get together and just spend time with eachother. Which is such a nice change of pace to all of the studying our difficult majors call for.

We also participate in things like Greek Week, Veisha and Homecoming. During Greek Week we help with Cy's Big Top, and our main activity is Fish'N'Chips. This activity involves goldfish (live ones ) and potato chips. The children toss bean bags onto a tic tac toe board and depending on how well they score, either a bag of chips or a goldfish is awarded to them.

All of this sounds amazing, right? And I am sure that you are excited your daughter is having a good time, but you have to be worried about her studies. Well you don't have to, she has many sorority sisters to help her and luckily she joined the perfect sorority to help her with studying because at least one other person has/will/is going through the same classes they are.

Being in an academic driven sorority creates a fantastic environment to find help with school. All of us that are in Alpha Sigma Kappa is in one of the harder majors offered at Iowa State, so all of us understand how stressful school can be. Whether your daughter needs someone to talk to about school, life, or anything, there is someone there for her.

If you are every wondering what you daughter is up to, browse around this website. There are pictures of some of the activities we have been doing, and there is a calender that lists the activities that are open to public knowledge. Unfortunately we can't tell you everything some of our activites are members only.
