ISU Ballroom Dance Club

Are you thinking about learning to dance? Do you want to swirl across the dance floor in waltz, or shake it in hot salsa? Do you have a wedding to attend and you think you will be out of place because you cannot ballroom dance?

Then you are in the right place! The ISU Ballroom Dance Club offers dance classes as well as a Friday night social/practice. The club also hosts special dances and parties for holidays such as Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day.

Our classes are taught by the professional dance instructors as well as the club officers. The classes offer instruction for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels for swing, waltz, tango, fox trot, and several Latin dances (cha cha, merengue, salsa, rumba, samba).

The classes are held Tuesday and Friday evenings. Your first lesson is free! Don't have a partner? You can find one at the lesson and meet lots of people.

In addition, the free Friday-night social welcomes students, faculty, staff, and community members of all ages and skills.

Special Upcoming Events

Los Angeles swing instructor Steve Grody will be teaching a swing and Lindy Hop workshop on Saturday, May 31, in room 213 Forker, just south of the ISU Power Plant, Ames.  See Lessons for more details.

Xtra Moves Night: On select Friday nights, the Ballroom Club hosts dance instruction by guest instructors during their regular Friday dance social in 196 Forker.
