Steve Grody teaching swing workshop

Intermediate swing and Lindy Hop workshop

Los Angeles swing instructor Steve Grody will be teaching a swing and Lindy Hop workshop on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the Octagon Center for the Arts, 427 Douglas, Ames, Iowa.

Emphasis will be on the details of social dance communication skills, expression, and having fun. Whether you are a beginner or beyond, these moves and principles will be an exciting addition to your dancing!

Swing workshop class sessions
Meeting time Workshop session description
10:00-11:20am Intermediate six-count east-coast swing with Lindy styling
11:40- 1:00pm Beginning eight-count savoy-style Lindy Hop
♦ lunch break ♦
2:00- 3:20pm *Intermediate Lindy Hop: Charleston variations
3:40- 5:00pm *Intermediate Lindy Hop: How to mix six- & eight-count steps
*To take the Intermediate Lindy classes, you must be familiar with the basic swing out, Lindy circle, and side-by-side Charleston, all of which will be taught in the Beginning eight-count Lindy Hop class.
  • Swing workshop fees (when paying altogether)
    • $45/person for all four classes
    • $35 for three classes
    • $25 for two classes
    • $15 for an individual class
  • No preregistration is necessary; register and pay at the door.
  • No partner is required as partners are frequently rotated during class.

Introductory swing, waltz, foxtrot, cha cha are taught in the beginning class starting every fall and spring semester. See our Lessons page.

Occasionally, summer beginning ballroom classes are offered. The June e-mail announcement will have details if they are.

Intermediate swing and standard-dance material (intermediate waltz and foxtrot, and beginning tango) will be taught in the intermediate classes during fall semesters.
