Associate, Regular, Graduate, Honorary, and Alumna/us.
Associate member: is the first level of membership in Beta Beta Beta. An Associate member shall be an undergraduate with a major in the Biological Sciences as defined by the Iowa State University Biology Program (Animal Ecology, Biochemistry, Biology, Biophysics, Botany, Entomology, Genetics, Microbiology, and Zoology), who are newly initiated members to the society and/or do not yet meet the requirements for full membership. Perspective Associate members shall have a GPA within their specified major of 3.20 or higher, be in good academic standing, and have attend a minimum of two regular meetings during the semester prior to initiation. Associate members may participate in all local, districts, and national activities except those specifically reserved to regular members by the national constitution. Associate members terminate both national and chapter membership when they graduate or otherwise terminate their matriculation in the chapter's home institution, unless
Applicants wishing to apply for membership in Beta Beta Beta, that do not have one of the recognized majors, may have their application reviewed by a committee that will include both the Regular Members and the Faculty Advisors. Advancement from Associate to Full Membership Status requires a continuing detection to the goals of the society, fulfillment of the requirements for regular membership, and the approval of the regular membership.
Regular Member: shall be an undergraduate with a major in the Biological Sciences as defined by the Iowa State University Biology Program, (Animal Ecology, Biochemistry, Biology, Biophysics, Botany, Entomology, Genetics, Microbiology, and Zoology); have completed BIOL 201, 202, and one 300 level or higher course within the student's specified major; maintain an average GPA of 3.20 in their biological courses; have been an Associate Member for one semester unless otherwise ratified; be in good academic standing; and be active either on campus or in the community. Only regular members may hold the constitutionally specified chapter offices, vote on chapter membership nominations and national questions, and represent the chapter or vote at national conventions. Regular members have both national and chapter membership. Once initiated they are:
Students applying for regular membership having transferred to Iowa State University must have completed course work equivalent to BIOL 201, 202, and one course, 300 level or above, in a biological science at Iowa State University.
