Iowa
State Cricket Club (ISUCC) was founded in 2001 and since then it has been
growing continuously. The main objectives of the club are to promote the game of
CRICKET among students, faculty and staff of ISU and to provide
necessary facilities and infrastructure for playing the game. We organize regular tournaments throughout
the year. Every year three tape ball tournaments are organized with several teams participating from Iowa State
University-Ames, Drake University-Des Moines, University of
Omaha-Omaha. Since 2001 Iowa State team has been regularly
participating in leather ball tournament organized by Cricket League of Iowa,
CLIA. The club is always trying to increase the number of
tournaments both tape ball and leather ball, to increase the
active participation of members in the club.
The club has played a major role in the
popularization of the game and the members have been growing
continuously.
On
1st May 2005, the newly constructed cricket pitch was inaugurated.
Cricket club has also been awarded as the Best Club of the year,
among 40 clubs present at Iowa State, for year 2002-2003 and
2004-2005. Every year elections are held to elect the
working committee for coming year. All ISU students are eligible for
membership, and there is membership due per year, which is used to
fund various activities of the club throughout the year.
