Rules

 

Summer Tennis Ball six-a-side Cricket Tournament 2005
  • Last man batting will be allowed. You will require having a runner at the other end. Even if the player on the          non-striking end is run-out, the last man is considered out.

  • In case of a tie, (A). The team losing less number of wickets (B) If number of wickets is the same, then both teams will play 1 over each. The scores at the end of 1 over will be used to decide the winner. This loop of A & B will be repeated maximum of 2 times. At the end if we are still in a deadlock then a coin-toss will decide the winner. Each of these 1 over matches will start as a new match but only the 6 players that played in the original match can bat & bowl.

  • A batsman will retire after making 25 runs, is not considered out and is allowed to bat later but only after all but one of the other players in his team are out. In case of a tie, a retired (or declared) batsman who does not resume his batting even when four wickets are lost (only one other batsman remaining) in the innings will be considered out (loss of wicket).

  • If a batsman scores a six when he is at 24, he can score till a maximum of 6 runs and he has to retire at the point when he crosses or is at 25 runs.

  • Each team will bowl 6 overs and a bowler can bowl maximum of TWO overs. Bowling will be from one side of the wicket only.

  • Rules for Wides, No balls, Byes and Overthrows are same as for International cricket.

  • There is no LBW and there are no runs for Leg Byes. However other standard rules like Stumped-out and Run-out are applied even to such balls.

  • At least 4 players are required to start the match otherwise for every 7 min one over will be deducted. After 20 min, walkover will be granted to the team that fulfills the minimum number of players requirement.

    Tentative timings are:
    6-8 PM - Friday
    6-8 PM - Saturday
    8.00AM - 8.00PM Sunday

    Each match will take approximately 1 hour and final schedule will be decided based upon the teams entries.

    The general structure of the tournament is as follows: 

    6 players per team

    6 overs per side

     2 overs maximum for 2 bowlers, hence a minimum of 4 bowlers

    Location: New cricket pitch at Towers Intramural Field (see Map for location and directions).

    The ANNUAL Membership fee:  (eligible to play all tournaments and holds valid from April, 2005 - March, 2006)
     
                     $ 15 ISU students
                     $ 25 Alumni and Faculty
                     $ 30 Non ISU

    For those interested in playing only the Spring tournament, this is the fee
    structure:

                     $ 4 for ISU Students
                     $ 8 for Alumni and Faculty

     The team captain is requested to submit the team roster along with details of the player i.e. Student / Alumni / Faculty / Non-ISU, and also the entry fee for the whole team.
