ISU DBIA's March Meeting
(L-R) President David Stroh and PE LEED AP Nathan Hagberg of Wolin Mechanical-Electical visited campus in mid-March to present to ISU DBIA. The two led a discussion on MEP design-build and procurement. Hagberg mentioned that one advantage of using D-B as a delivery method is having designers who maintain a close relationship with the trades and sharpen their skills through direct feedback from the field.
The Iowa State University Chapter of the Design-Build Institute of America is a student run organization devoted to promoting knowledge of design-build and related topics. ISU DBIA holds regular meetings during the second Wednesday of each month. Free pizza and beverages are served at each meeting just before a presentation/discussion lead by an industry professional.
Design-Build is a method of project delivery using a single source for architectural, engineering and construction services. In this scenario, one "master builder" is held accountable for the providing the entire package of services from concept to completion.
