About Us
The Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) is an organization which gives students the chance to meet and get involved with individuals in the field of Industrial Engineering. This is done through planned activities and seminars. Each chapter within the organization is a self-governed body.
The Iowa State chapter holds general meetings monthly with guest speakers taking the opportunity to discuss Industrial Engineering related topics. The organization sponsors a plant trip every semester to give members knowledge of how facilities operate and any changes that are occurring in the workplace. The National Leadership Conference takes place every year at a different college campus around the country. Also, organized social activities are held for students to have some fun, meet other students, and meet some of the engineering faculty.
The Institute of Industrial Engineers is the only association devoted to serving the needs of Industrial and Systems Engineering professionals. IIE has 320 student chapters throughout the world. The organization provides many services including seminars, speakers, and the IIE magazine Solutions, designed specifically for students. Every IE's career should begin with an IIE student membership. It provides a college student with a great opportunity to benefit from the many continuing education and networking opportunities available exclusively through IIE.
