Wolpoff
Guest speaker Dr. Milford Wolpoff and Nicole Selken. Nov 7, 2007.

NEWS

The second year successfully resulted in providing the Iowa State community with topics presented by two wonderful guest speakers. We are looking forward to hearing about more Anthropological work by guest speakers in the future. Any suggestions by the ISU students, staff and faculty are welcomed.

ISAA Information

Our goal is to promote the integration of an interdisciplinary approach in the field of anthropology while providing a forum for discussion on topics for the future of anthropology via the contribution of an "ecologically holistic" approach. The four main components of ISAA are the Round Table, Yearly Symposium, Newsletter and Mentorship.

    Components

    Newsletter

Publication for updating students on happenings, future conferences, funding, etc.

    Meetings

A bi-monthly Round Table is conducted in which students meet to discuss set topics, talk about their research projects, present preliminary results, ask questions about their data, establish future events or guest speakers, etc. As a nascent organization, the Fall 2006 ISAA meetings were conducted as a team effort to establish membership and open dialogue about graduate students' intentions, which propelled the goals of ISAA for 2007 and beyond.

    Yearly Symposium

A time to present our research (or planned research) as a group. Outside- departmental presentations are welcome within the theme of anthropology.

    Mentorship

Students work together to share resources, educational advice, and experiences.

Anthropology demands the open-mindedness with which one must look and listen, record in astonishment and wonder that which one would not have been able to guess. -- Margaret Mead
