October 30th to November 1st
- Midwest Power VII! Midwest Power is a yearly rocket launch event in Princeton, IL that is set up by the Tripoli Quad Cities rocketry society. We will again be driving a van of people to this event where they will be welcome to launch their rockets and work to get their rocketry certification. See our pictures from 2007. Regestration for the event closes on October 16th.
Fall 2009 Projects
- We need to make some repairs to the Level 3 dart rocket and work on the electronics and ejection charges. Times and dates TBA.
- At the request of a incoming freshman student, we have decided to provide the backbone for the beginning of a long-term USLI competition program here at Iowa State. We will be looking for students who are interested in space and just want to get their foot in the door to become involved in this great NASA competition that is based on learning real-world engineering techniques and procedures.
- We will be competing (hopefully with the help of the SSCL) in a SEDS competition to build a rocket that is launched from a balloon at more than 75,000 ft. This project will be difficult to complete for a deadline of the 2008 X-Prize cup. These are the competition rules. Watch for updates!
- We may be again having build sessions for members interested in high power rocketry to help them build their level 1 rockets. Time and date TBA.
- We have been happy to get the servo we have needed to make the liquid-fueled rocket work from our friends at the SSCL. We will need to make sure the fuel system is completely functional and strengthen the fins of the rocket before launching it. We may pick this project back up after other projects are complete.
