The ISU Judo Club practices a competitive Japanese martial art under the primary guidance of Grandmaster Yong Chin Pak. Judo, as formally described by Dr. Jigoro Kano in 1882, involves grappling, throws, and submissions. In addition to providing a great workout, Judo emphasizes character improvement, self-confidence, and respect for others. There are opportunities to compete at regional and national levels, to expand martial arts knowledge, and to make lifelong friends.

Our club consists of a diverse, enthusiastic group of students, faculty, staff, and local residents, of all skill levels. Beginners are always welcome! If you live in or near the Ames, IA area, we cordially invite you to visit with us!
