Next Monday, Josh and Brett are going to go over climbing knots, ropes, climbing ratings, and general basics of climbing b. the meeting on the 28th of September will be in Brookside Park - We're setting up at 5pm, getting the grills warmed up at 5:30 and starting the keg drop at 6pm, After the keg drop, we'll grill out and probably set up a couple of slacklines -What's a keg drop? We fill a keg with water and tie it to a retired climbing rope and drop it off the bridge and see how many drops it can take before snapping. This is to prove how strong our climbing ropes really are. -What's slacklining? We tie climbing webbing between two trees and tight rope walk on them, If you've never done it, then now is the time to learn! 4. Wednesday Climbing a. Wal Nut Creek Climbing Gym -We have unofficial climbing hours at Wal-Nut from 7pm to 9pm, though they open at 6pm if you want to go earlier, It's a great place to get comfortable with some climbing techniques and meet members of the club, everyone is super nice at the gyma dn we always love newcomers, you can rent shoes and harnesses there. It's $8 a time, shoe rentals are $3. If you need rides, give one of us a call. We usually send out an e-mail letting everyone know who's going on Wednesday. There are also driving directions in a link on our club homepage. 5. Forms, Forms, and more Forms a. Annual Forms that we must have signed before you go on a trip (signed and turned in only once a year) -http://www.stuorg.iastate.edu/mcc/docs/waivers/ b. Transportation Forms -anytime you go on a trip, Transportation will e-mail you an insurance/saftey waiver. You will need to fill this out EVERY time for every trip you go on I think that about sums everything up. Hope to see everybody again on either Wednesday at Wal Nut, Thursday at Stratford, Stratford on Saturday, and/or next Monday for the knots and ropes meeting! -Laura Ostergren ISUMCC Secretary P.S.
