Adam Petts has put new photos up, particularly of the Red River Gorge trip. See is you see someone you know; could be someone put YOUR mug on there. Also, people may now add themselves to the mailing list by going to the site and going to the "Contact Us" section. The UNI Climbing Competition is coming up March 1st. There are top-roping, bouldering, and speed climbing events, (nececitating aerodynamic helmets). The club will be going in vans and cars to UNI Friday evening and will stay at the wellness center where they may make use of the fitness center, pool, and steam room, and the following night there's usually a big party. To participate you need to sign up and get regestered. Again, everyone who goes seems to really like the competition and it's an opportunity to have a good time performing your art. Skill levels are as follows: Beginner-up to 5.9, Intermediate-5.9-5.11, and Advanced 5.11 on up. Fees are $20 for 1 event, $25 for 2 or more. Sadly, the ISU Everest Comp has been called off. Don't worry, someday our school will shine. We've decided not to take a spring break Mountaineering trip for lack of necessairy leaders. However, we are encouraging those interested to sign up for the Outdoor Rec Mountaineering/Ice Climbing trip to Colorado. It sounds like it'll be a great way for people to get some mountaineering experience under their belts. The cost $130 which includes food for the week, and the club might be subsidizing a portion of that for our club members. Got two ATC's but no rope? Got two ropes but no ATC? Well, we're planning a gear swap so you can fix that! Trade your ropes for belay devices or any gear for anything else. We're going to try to have this the week before spring break. TRIPS 2/22/03: Snowshoeing at Brown's Woods. If we still have snow for our shoes. 3/8/03: Ice Climbing, presumably at Brickyards to replace the trip that was supposed to happen this weekend. Even when it does snow we can't catcha break! SEMINAR Adam Petts allowed the jock in him to shine as he presented us with a seminar on training for climbing. Drawing from Eric Horst's book, "Flash Training," Adam covered a wide range of topics including, the importance of being a well-rounded climber, goal setting, work-out plans, and sports massage. Thank's Adam. Next week, Jerry from Outdoor Rec will be giving a seminar on the use of Avalanche tranceivers. OTHER STUFf Meetings: Mondays 8:00 pm in 1810 Gilman. Club Climb: Sundays and Wednesdays from 10:30 pm till Midnight. Web site: www.isumcc.com Happy trails, John Ank
