To: mountaineers@iastate.edu From: Subject: minutes for 3/24/03 Date: Thu, 27 Mar 2003 00:26:53 -0600 (CST) ISUMCC Minutes for 3/24/03 Monday's meeting was opened as most post-break meetings are opened, with stories of our adventures abroad. Most people commented on their failures to do much of anything at all in the midst of Colorado's "storm of the century." The most notable story had, however, already been circulated through word of mouth as well as through major papers, and we were happy to hear the details of our commrads safe return. Sean Lindsay pointed out, at one point, that for once the Midwest offered much more than any of the West's fourteeners. Better luck next time all around. Steve tells us we've got some cool seminars coming up, and after that it'll be BBQ's and slack lining. TRIPS The spring climbing season is upon us, and we intend to get in a couple trips before finals crunch time. April 5th- Devil's Lake or Mississippi Palisades. This will be a small trip of six or so. If you are interested come next week. SEMINAR Steve Smith gave a presentation on backcountry travel. Steve's admittedly got some experience on the subject, although every time he pulls out his red and white umbrella I get skeptical. Covered were gear for hour long hiker and the weekend and beyond backpacker. Thanks Steve. Next Week Ryan Galbraith will be giving a seminar on Colorado fourteeners. I personally see this seminar as being insult to injury, but I'm looking forward to it all the same.
