ISUMCC Minutes for 4/7/03 Dearest Club Memebers, The number of weeks until summer is rapidly dimishing and the pressure is mounting, but we've got some cool and imortant events coming up in the next few weeks so it would be in your best interest to set aside that one hour on Monday nights. The T-Shirts have been designed and are in the production phase. Hopefully we'll have them by the BBQ meeting if not before. There is a rumor going around that with budget cuts, these T-Shirts are nothing more than Hanes upon which we've forced Andrea to draw mountains and squiggles with a sharpie. That is not entirely true. Highlighters were also used for color, and I think you'll like the result. The elections are coming up in two weeks, the Monday of 4/21. It's very important that we have a high turn out for this meeting even if you don't intent to run. The mystery seminar that Petts and Steve are putting on will be this Monday as well so even if you don't care about making a difference with a vote at least you can bask in the chiefs' creative glory. AND WAIT, THERE'S MORE! We're going to try to bring food of some sort be it pizza or pop-tarts to sweeten the deal. TRIPS We have a couple vans reserved for the weekend of the 25th. We're not sure where the trip is to but we are thinking Devil's lake or Taylor's Falls. If you are interested make sure and be at the meeting Monday. SEMINAR Ryan Galbraith gave a seminar on Colorado Fourteener. Colorado is a frequent destination for Midwest climbers because it is relatively close (a scant 14-20 hours drive) and offers 50 some 14,000 ft. mountains. Also, the weather is usually quite reasonable, not including the most recent attempts. Covered were hot spots and attributes for the mountains available. They me seem far off, but sometimes all it takes is a call to a friend to initiate such exploits. Thanks Ryan Next Week Brian Block will be giving or at least sponsoring a seminar on big wall climbing. I myself am very curious about this one. Those of you who are also curious about the in's and out's of climbing the same route for days at a time should check it out. The following week there is the (wisper-wisper, hush-hush) secret seminar to be unveiled by Petts and Steve Smith. Personally I think it's just a bluff to hide the fact that neither of them knows anything at all about climbing. The week after that it's BBQ and slack-lining at Brookside. Other Stuff, Meetings: Monday nights 8:00 pm 1810 Gilman Website: www.isumcc.com Dues $20. Yatta, Yatta. Yours truly, John Ankeny ISUMCC Secretary
