To: mountaineers@iastate.edu From: Subject: ISUMCC Minutes for 4/21/03 Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 13:44:20 -0500 (CDT) ISUMCC minutes for 4/21/03 Hello all, Monday's meeting had a pretty good turnout, though not quite as good as I would have expected with the unilateral appeal of pizza amongst college students. We had the elections, and, as you likely know, I was booted out. As my revenge I intened to make my final minutes as a festival of explicatives; censors, start your engines. However, the rational portion intervened, and I mind decided to maintain my f*%#ing journalistic integrity. Actually the elections were a lot of fun this year, but I'm not sure that's a good thing. What if congressmen were appointed amid a flurry of high-fives and bursts of uncontrolled laughter? Would we still have such faith in them? Anyway, I'm very pleased with the new cabinet and look forward to their year long reign of terror. President: Alex Kordick- Our first female president. Take that hockey club! Vice President: Séamus Kelly- Even though he wasn't there people "said" he wanted to run so... Treasurer: Andrea LeClere- She looks like a good kid, but looks can be deceiving. Trip Coordinator: Tim Newton- sweet Tim returns for an encore. Secretary: Eric Lesch- I don't know about this guy, but it's a democratic process. SCC Representative: Adam Petts- Mr. Petts apparently couldn't relinquish the intoxicating taste of power just yet. Next week's meeting will be at ye olde Brookside Park, where we will have the annual BBQ (more food!), and impaired slacklining demonstrations. If it's not too muddy we might even get to get our bouldering on down at the train tracks. To get to Brookside take Elwood north to 6th street and take a right. Then it's a stone's throw past the train tracks, a couple hundred feet or so, and on your left. Bring your own beverages. That reminds me, we didn't elect a social chair! Who is going to rock the party that rocks the body?! What will become of our club? TRIPS 4/25/03: Devil's lake Wisconsin. First and last of the semester. It might be too late now, but as long as there are spots we'd love to have you along. $15. During the summer we encourage club members to use the connections made during the school year. When your sitting at home, bored out of your gourd, call up a club compatriot and head west. Paid club members may still use gear out of the gear locker, but it'll take some time to get ready, so give the person with the keys at least a week or two before any prospective plans. SEMINAR Adam Petts and Steve Smith wow'ed us with a resounding, "we got nothin'." Need I say I called that one? The Mystery Seminar apparently hasn't made it off the black list of secrecy and thus, couldn't be unveiled. Something to do with uncooperative sheep. The Mystery continues until next year. No seminar next week except a lesson in pain by yours truly as he attempts to get back into slacklining form. farewell climbers, adieu, good bye, John Ank
