To: mountaineers@iastate.edu From: Eric Lesch Subject: Minutes 10/6/03 Date: Sun, 12 Oct 2003 22:06:51 -0500 (CDT) Hey Ladies, Guys, and Climbers, Hopefully everyone is already aware of the changes for this next weeks meeting, the 13th. We are going to have a yoga session geared towards climbing strength and flexibilities in place of the regularly scheduled meeting. This funness will take place in 213 Forker from 7-8PM (note the change in time please), comfortable clothes should be worn in case you normally wear uncomfortable clothes. Hopefully we will all learn to elevate our bodies and minds more effectively, w/respect to climbing and otherwise. Also, we are working to make patches, stickers, and nalgenes available for sale in the near future. One of our cool guys, John Kassie, gave last weeks seminar on alternate methods for belaying and rappelling and on the usefulness of belay anchors. If you are currently planning on dropping your rappel devices at the top of your next climb, or for some unknown reason going to belay someone w/out a belay device, hopefully having attended this seminar makes the going a little smoother. Trips: -Devils Lake is next weekend, 10/17-10/19! Personally I can't wait for this trip. Devils Lake has some of the best climbing and views around. $15 (I believe there are still spots available) -Thanksgiving break trip sign-up sheet is already being circulated! I'm not positive where we will be going, but I think we are leaning towards Sam's Throne, AR. Cost is typically $40-50. *** Note to everyone, our giant yellow crash pad is missing! If you or somebody you know has any information that could lead to the recovery of the crash pad please contact the proper authorities (the exec) immediately! Hope everyone is as cool as they thought they were, or alternatly if you didnt think that you were cool I hope you have discovered as much. Eric Lesch ISUMCC Secretary
