To: mountaineers@iastate.edu From: "Tim Anderson" Subject: Ryan can't wait till vegas minutes! Date: Tue, 14 Feb 2006 22:45:43 -0600 (CST) Hey everyone! It seems that after talking to Ryan on Monday that he is really looking forward to the spring break trip so he can stop off at Vegas. Hopefully for everyone on the trip... what happens there, stays there. Mary and McNair presented an avalance seminar for this meeting. It was just fine and they were able to get out the word and dangers of avalances. They also told us it isn't smart to take pictures of one. Spring break trip this year is going to be going to Las Vegas and Red Rocks. If you are wanting to sign up you will need $50 deposit and liability and medical forms. Spots are filling up fast! Bake sale is going on Mar. 7&8 (Tue,Wed) more info soon. Also if you are studly and stuff you would work great. Tim Newton sold tons of cookies to 40 year old girls when he took his shirt off last year during the sale. Next week's seminar is going to be about fitness and other stuff related to getting into shape for climbing. It should be a must see if you just can't seem to improve on your own right now! In two weeks Brandon the Roth is having a seminar. I can't remember what he is going to be talking about but he asks that everyone who comes know how to tie the bowhitch and munter hitch. He also mentioned that he has talked to Chad Ward at the ORC. They are trying to put together a class that may last 2- 4 weeks and would be about trying to improve climbing skills. Stuff like maybe having skills of a 5:10 climber and moving up to climbing 5:12 or 5:13. If you have interest in a class like this talk to Brandon. There was also breaking news from the ORC last night. March 24 there is going to be an Iowa State bouldering comp through the ORC. More information should be available through Chad Ward at ORC. Well I am tired and very sleepy. Sorry I got the minutes out a day late, but stuff happens. Have a great week and don't party too hard... you gotta save your stamina for Spring break!!! Sincerely, Tim Anderson (Secretary)
