To: mountaineers@iastate.edu From: "Tim Anderson" Subject: Its ok to check the toilet minutes! Date: Thu, 2 Mar 2006 16:01:10 -0600 (CST) Hey people! Well first off to explain the minutes, the nutrition person came and talked to us Monday for the seminar. They explained to everyone that it is good to... eat good! Eating well will make you feel better and climb better. The reason why is not quite apparent, but it deals with nutrients and other boring food related stuff. It is also cool to check what color you pee is. It is good to have yellow or clear pee. You don't want red, coke, coffee, or orange colored pee. This is bad and you should probably see a doctor if this persists more than a couple days. I guess the point is that a Whopper from Burger King may be the food of "Kings" (after you get the paper crown), but not the food of champions. Also I want to appoligize for getting the minutes out so late. I ran into a wierd scenario this week. It begins with me having this interview up in Rochester Minn on Monday. I went up there and got back before the meeting. I ran to the Rec really quick to do some stuff. I went into the steam room just because I could... It turns out the steam wasn't quite steam! I was whisked off to a magical desert where Chris Sharma and Stephen Seagall received me. They talked about spam, bologna, the dangers of eating these rendered meats, and then windows vista. After being bored out of my mind they told me it was time to return to the steam room. I quickly walked out and found out it was Thursday. I guess it was quite a trip and am not sure how I was in the steam room so long... Well I am back now and so the minutes will be recorded for this week. Ok now onto the meat of the minutes. Here is the low down on spring break! There are going to be 2 days in Moab, UT. 4 days are going to be in Red Rocks. 1 to 2 nights are going to be in Las Vegas (WOOHOO!). The price looks to be $100-$50 now and $50 later. All this includes 2 group dinners. I am also a little confused about one thing. There is something about the Banff Mountain Film Festival. It is going to be $8 but I am not sure if it is down on the trip or somewhere else. I guess there will probably be E-mails about it if it is aside from the trip. There are 9 spots left for the trip and some very lovely climbing peeps such as Ryan McNair (who enjoys performing yoga position 15) are going to be leading. Oh yeah, Ryan still has shirts available for I believe $10. Next week Roth Vader (Brandon Roth) is going to be presenting the Monday seminar. He will be talking about multi pitch stuff. He should be able to pull out some outstanding pictures. Most will probably be him pulling some crazy stuff. He wants everyone there to know the clove hitch (not bowhitch) and the munter hitch. If you need to learn these either contact him or ask someone who works at the wall. They get paid to know that kinda thing... I think. Well thanks for reading and again sorry that I went on a wild and wacky "trip". Have a great week and make sure to party extra hard tomarrow because... It's SPRING BREAK AFTER NEXT WEEK! Sincerely, Tim Anderson (Secretary)
