Directions to Wall-Nut Creek Mountaineering

Wall-Nut Creek Mountaineering is a local climbing gym inside a barn. They have built all kinds of custom walls inside, including tall routes, lead routes, bouldering areas, and a slackline. Their website is at iowaclimbing.com. Normal hours are Mon and Wed 6:00pm-9:00pm, Fri 6:00pm-10:00pm, Sat 12:00pm-6:00pm.

Directions:

Take University Blvd (formerly Elwood Dr) south. Go straight (south) past the four-way stop at Airport Rd. The road will turn to gravel (and becomes 530th Ave). Continue south about three miles. Wall-Nut is a large barn on your right (west) and has a sign out front.

If you want to avoid gravel as much as possible, take Duff Ave south about three miles past the edge of Ames. Turn right (west) on 280th St (toward Kelley). After about a mile and a half, there will be a bunch of large grey metal silos and a large white farm building on the right (north). Turn right (north) on 530th Ave, which is the gravel road just past them. You will still have to go almost half a mile on gravel. Wall-Nut will be on your left (west).
