Can non-student MCC members use the wall during club time?

Yes, but there are fees involved, and the specifics depend on your situation. The fees are to cover what the students already pay in fees included with tuition.

To get into the Rec Center, non-students must buy a pass. (Since the wall is in the Rec Center, this is required to get into the building.) Prices are listed on the Rec Center homepage. At this writing, fees are:
  • $100/yr (or $50/semester) for faculty/staff (current or retired), "approved affiliates", post-docs, spouses, dependents (18 and over)
  • $220/yr (or $110/semester) for Alumni Association members or their spouses or dependents (18 or over)
  • $32/yr (or $16/semester) for students' spouses or dependents (18 or over)
They also have temporary passes available: $5/day, $25/week, $35/month, plus daily guest passes for $5 for people who come to the rec with a friend who is a student or has a pass. These may be cheaper for you if you will not be going to the Rec Center regularly, though the guest pass will require planning with a friend. (That's another good reason to come to club meetings during the semester -- meet other people who will be going to the wall during club times, whether you need to mooch off their Rec Center privileges or not.)

If you are an ISU alum and have no cheaper connection to get a Rec Center pass, you will need to get an Alumni Association membership first, $45/year at this writing.

If you have no affiliation with ISU (as detailed in the Rec Center fees above), the only way to get into the Rec Center (and, therefore, the climbing wall) is to go with a friend and buy a $5 guest pass each time. Again, that requires coordination with a friend who can get in.

Other fees: To be allowed to belay people at the wall, you must pass a certification test once a year. This test is given by any Outdoor Rec personnel during normal (non-club) wall hours. Also, if you're not a student and want to climb during regular (non-club) hours, there is a wall fee on top of everything else. It's $5 or so per time, and they should have punch cards available for reduced rates.

Since this is not an official Rec Center, Outdoor Rec (the people who run the wall), or Alumni Association page, you might want to check with each of them to find out the exact rules and costs for your situation:
