2 Timothy 2:2 'And the things that you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.'
The development in the Navigator ministry was defined in the middle forties through an analysis of 2 Timothy 2:2, and the place of The Navigators in the plan of God took further shape. The terms "Timothys," "man to man," and "producing reproducers" began to be heard. The Word, leading to discipline, evangelism, and follow-up, produces a maturity that can only be satisfied in spiritual reproduction. In the evolution of this work, as in an individual life, however, the principle of producing reproducers, to be effective, cannot stand alone but must be built on the basics in the wheel. Some of you may ask why? Well it is simple. A disciplemaker cannot make disciples if he is not first a disciple. If we are going to be disciplemakers, we first have to be disciples. That is a prerequisite that cannot be violated. Only disciples make disciples, so we have to practice a regular walk with God before we can teach and train someone else to walk with God. And one of the ingredients of discipleship is to work toward fulfilling the Great Commission. This means that we have to appropriate the power of God through the indwelling Holy Spirit to live that kind of lifestyle and victorious life.
As we live the life God has called us to live, we will in turn reproduce and multiply our life into the next generation. The Power Of Multiplication
When Jesus Christ gave the Great Commission, was it just wishful thinking on His part that all nations could be discipled Is it realistic to think that people from every nation today could be taught Jesus' commands, baptized, and brought to maturity in Christ? Remember, there are 5.9 billion people in the world right now! Keep in mind as well that Christ was not only concerned with evangelism, but also the establishing and equipping of Christians. So the task is much more than simply getting the Word out!Imagine being given the job by God to paint this room and you have 5 hours. You can either say yes Sir or no Sir. In painting the room if you -recruit one other, you have cut your Job in half. In reaching 4.5 billion people in the world you can cut your job in half by building in the life of one individual and recruiting them to the job. (Contrast this with simply adding by evangelism.)
How long would it take to reach the world adding one at a time? But if multiplying (1 helps 1, 2 helps 2, 4 helps 4, 8 helps 8) it would take 32 years. The only way to accomplish such an objective is by the power of multiplication. Jesus poured the majority of His time into 12 key men who then in turn did the same with other men. They accomplished the objective in their lifetime, Col. 1:23! Thus, we can do it as well if we follow Jesus' pattern.
This makes each individual significant. "Anyone can see apples on an apple tree, but only a man of vision can see trees in the apple."
