Becoming a Member
The affiliate members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council do not hold rush like their fellow IFC and NPC greeks.
Here at Iowa State NPHC members hold informationals. These are not by invite-only and everyone is welcomed and encouraged to attend more than one. Informationals vary between organizations, but basically it is an opportunity to get introduced to the organization and meet its members. If a perspective is interested in a NPHC fraternity or sorority it is important to notify the organization of interest. An individual who is really interested in membership should have already established:
| Leadership | What activities do you participate in? Have you ever been a role model? |
| Scholarship | As elite organizations founded on scholarship we require it of perspective members. Academically do you stand out or set standards? |
| High Moral Standards | Being men and women of good moral character is a necessity. Do you conduct yourself as a respectible gentleman or lady? |
| Community Service | We are all service organizations. We do socialize, but our primary focus is helping the community. Have you had community service experience? Do you know where in Ames you can volunteer yourself to others? |
Individual chapters may have more specific policies for perspectives interested in their organization. Pledging is no longer legal as of 1990 and all new members of NPHC organizations go through a membership intake process. These are all different based on the chapter and usual require an application and selection process.
In order to contact a particular organization please view their webpage or contact their president.
The dates of the informationals will be posted on the calendar of events.
