Quotes

Here you will find a compendium of various quips, witticisms, and interesting dialogues that occur in the context of a club event (i.e. a practice or tournament). At the end of each entry is an explanation to put the quote or dialogue into perspective.

  • Greg: "That sounds like an easy school to beat."
  • Nick: "They're right there."
  • Context: At an invitational tournament; the team in question was seated nearby.
  • Sam: "Let's see if you can get this next one before [Dan] finds it on the coin."
  • Omar: "Liberty."
  • Context: Reading through a bonus from the invitational, which Dan didn't attend. The topic was the half dollar, Dan had taken one out, this was the third of three parts of the question, and Omar answered before it was even stated.
  • Omar: "That's my answer. You stole my answer!"
  • Context: Nick answering a question Omar got at the invitational on a subsequent reading.
  • Nick: "Get down here so we can pay dues in order to impeach you."
  • Context: To Greg, the Treasurer, during our constitutional "crisis".
  • Nick: "This hallway looks like it's deserted."
  • (Someone walks by the doorway)
  • Context: During a meeting in the most remote location of the MU, comparing the situation to the movie Cube.
  • Nick: "You know what I never see? A million dollars falling on me from the sky."
  • Context: Right after the hallway incident.
  • Omar: "You now have ten seconds to review the document."
  • Sam: "Motion to give him another fifteen minutes."
  • Greg: "Second."
  • Omar: "All in favor?"
  • (Sam and Greg raise their hands)
  • Greg: "Dan!"
  • Omar: "All opposed?"
  • (Omar, Nick, Dan raise their hands)
  • Dan: "No!!!"
  • Omar: "Motion denied. Proceed with the voting."
  • Context: During our meeting to ratify a new constitution. Dan requested to take a look at it and was given one minute.
  • Warren: "So we had mumps going through our dorm..."
  • Omar: "Monks?"
  • Context: None really needed.
  • Brandt: "'It is only by the exercise of reason that man can discover God.'"
  • Bennie: *buzz* "Paine."
  • Chuck: "Oh, that's just Common Sense."
  • Context: Thomas Paine, author of the pro-revolutionary pamphlet Common Sense.
  • Brandt: "Among this city's firsts were the first public parks, first brick house... OWW!!!"
  • Context: To the tune of "Brick House" by the Commodores.
