Ames, IA-West Ames
West Ames is where the Jewell Subdivision from Eagle Grove joins the mainline. There are about 1 to 2 trains on the Jewell Sub a day with more during peak grain shipments. Some Jewell Sub trains are easy to spot. Those coming from or going to the Spine Line occasionally have non-ATC units on the point with just about anything from the Southern Pacific and Union Pacific being seen.

Getting to West Ames
To get to West Ames, take U.S. 30 west, exit at Elwood Dr. Take Elwood north. At the fourth light make a right onto Lincoln Way. Turn left at the second light onto Elm Ave. Go a block and park in the gravel lot.
