March 5, 2003:
- Representatives from Fairchild, Harwood, and Barker met with Vice President of Student Affairs
Dr. Thomas Hill. The meeting was extremely productive and Dr. Hill requested that we set up a
follow-up meeting after talking with John Shertzer and Randy Alexander, allowing Dr. Hill time to
do some research in the meantime as well. Date was tentatively set for after Spring Break. When
asked what we should do in the meantime, Dr. Hill suggested to follow through with the protest
plans and not to be scared to ask every question we want answered when meeting with the D.O.R.
next week.
- Word has it that the D.O.R. reads our Strangetalk threads on a regular basis. Perhaps
student opinion will become more of a concern soon!
- The media has been contacted about the protest (March 11th, 8am-8pm, Free Speech Zone - by the
library/hub), and all but one station guaranteed coverage of the event. Get your cardboard boxes
ready!
February 25, 2003:
- Spoke at Harwood house meeting to promote petition and protest.
- Meeting held with Fairchild. Discussed promotion of protest as well as other ways of
promoting the cause to the student body.
- Meeting with Randy Alexander and John Shertzer scheduled for March 13 from 5-7 p.m. in the
Lyon Hall parlor. (Note: This is an INFORMATIONAL meeting, not a verbal bashing. Please feel
free to come and express opinions TACTFULLY and come well-prepared, because Mr. Alexander and Mr.
Shertzer will be doing the same.)
February 24, 2003:
- Date set for peaceful protest. March 11 from 8am-8pm, Free Speech Zone (by the Hub), bring your own
cardboard box, your "home sweet home" for the 12 hours, as well as any [appropriate] signs. Media is being contacted to cover
the event.
