Rodeo Team Information Q: Do you have to be part of the
club to be on the team? A: Yes, but it's for your own
benefit. Decisions concerning the team are made during meetings. Q: How many rodeos are there per
year? A: There are usually 4 rodeos in the
fall and 6 in the spring. Q: Are members compensated for
entry fees or driving? A: Members of the team do have the
opportunity to be compensated for driving costs if they use an Iowa State
University vehicle. There is also a scholarship available to one female and
one male participant each year. Q: Are there places in the area to
keep my horse? A: There are some stables in the
area that can be found on the animal science Web
site. You can also e-mail rodeoteam@iastate.edu
for more information. Q: Are there team practices? A: The arena is always there for
team members to practice and we are looking into getting our own cattle for
roping and steer wrestling practices. For rough stock, members have been able
to visit Ft. Dodge to practice with the ICCC rodeo members. Q: Are members required to own
their own equipment? A: For the most part, yes. The
equipment we have available includes a few protective vests for the
competitors. Q: Who can I contact for more team
information? A: Please contact Heidi Gansen at hgansen@iastate.edu,
or our
advisor Dr. Scott McClure at mcclures@iastate.edu.
