National Convention

The Delta Chapter of Sigma Alpha took six members to Buffalo, New York for Sigma Alpha National Convention on October 14-16, 2004. The members who attended were Rhonda Fatchett, Brenda Meyers, DeNae Phillip, Jennifer Joyce, Kristine Legler, and Lisa Wickersham. When members arrived they participated in mixer activities in order to meet sisters from across the nation. Delta chapter members showed off their love for Sigma Alpha by showing off their shirts they designed and Lisa was Ms. Delta Chapter. After the introduction of the National Board members, who performed a skit, and the mixer activities we talked with other members in the hospitality room. This gave members from other chapters to discuss what they are doing and enjoy home baked cookies.

On Friday members listened to a speaker and attended various small sessions to learn about and discuss current issues. In the afternoon members went on various industry tours around Buffalo. We got to go to the Niagra Falls and Murphy’s Orchard. These were all very educational and informative.

On Saturday members attended the awards breakfast where the Delta Chapter received the Emerald Chapter Award. After the breakfast there was different sessions to learn about the different Sigma Alpha issues and policies. After these meetings we had our regional meetings and discussed possible dates for regional convention. To finish off the weekend members attended the banquet where more awards were given. Nancy Bohl and Nicole Wilson was given the Emerald Scholar Award. At the end of the evening members enjoyed the opportunity to meeting with Delta Chapter Alumni and take pictures!
