The
Iowa State chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society holds
meetings the second monday of every month that ISU is in session.
Meetings start at 6 pm usually in Agronomy 3140(location subject to change, check calendar for current information).
Food and refreshment are provided.
The
main fundraiser for the club is the marketing of the Groundwater
Flow Model. Packing parties are scheduled at our monthly
meetings according to model demand. Dinner is provided for those
who help out.
The
Groundwater Flow Model is an educational device that can be used
for presentations to groups of all ages. Movement of water and contaminants
are easily demonstrated. The following are examples of some of the
actions demonstrated: functioning of tile drainage systems, water
table fluctuations, leaking landfills and underground storage tanks,
movement of water in artesian wells, and non-point source leaching.
The
club also organizes recreational events. Some examples include:
snow skiing trips, camping outings, canoe trips, and afternoon picnics
complete with volleyball, softball, bocce ball? and barbeque.
