Time for Peace Statement of Principles

Time for Peace is an organization whose primary focus is peace and nonviolence, which encompasses:

A courageous, active involvement in the community;
An avoidance not only of external physical violence but also internal violence of the spirit;
A refusal to seek to defeat or humiliate anyone, but rather to win their friendship and understanding;
A resolve to address the root causes of violence;
A belief that our lives our linked together and that what we do impacts the lives of others;
A pursuit to inform ourselves of the opposing argument and increase our own understanding of the issues;
A pursuit to inform others of nonviolence and related issues;
A resolve to be benevolent in our thoughts, words, and actions;
A personal commitment to regularly check and affirm our adherence to these principles.

The Time for Peace Steering Committee will assess the group's adherence to these principles, as well as regularly evaluate the validity and content of these principles.
