Theta Delta Chi offers several advantages academically the dorms cannot offer.
Academics
- Academic Mentors
It is not difficult to find an academic mentor in the hosue, someone with whom you can study with and/or guide you through your cousework.
- Scholarship Chair
Our scholarship chair offers an incentive program to members to get them to set academic goals and achieve them. He also schedules guest speakers for our formal meals. Topics can range anywhere from public speaking to time management, credit card history or just sitting down with the president of the university.
- Scholarships
We also have scholarships, $1000 of in-house scholarships are offered every year to member achievement in academics and diligence. Our international eadquarters also offers many scholarships to members. We're at Iowa State for our academics, but this is a social fraternity. Aside from Homecoming, Greek Week and VEISHEA we keep socially active:
Social Activities
- Parties
There is quite a variety in our party habits. We may have a band in the basement or out behind the house. We might rent out another structure (barn, bar, hall, auditorium) and have an exclusive date party. Parties may be whom we are paired with for Homecoming or Greek Week. Whatever the set-up and whatever the occasion, it is a chance to let lose and have a good time.
- Tailgates
The football season is packed with these. It is customary for our house to invite a sorority over to grill out prior to a game.
- Dinner Exchanges
These are like tailgates, except without the football game. They occur during the week. Members from our fraternity will go to the sorority's house and members of the sorority will come to our house. Sometimes a guest speaker will discuss an issue relevant to our organizations.
