Games at Practice:
The Ames Izaak Walton League provides 2 trap fields
and one skeet field for us to practice on. Doubles trap, wobble trap, and
doubles skeet are also set up for practice upon request. In order to shoot,
sign up on the squad sheets in the club house. Please pay for your rounds
when you finish shooting. |

What to Bring:
Shooters are responsible for their own ammunition,
and target costs of $3.oo per round. Please use 12 gauge or smaller, and
limit amanitin to 1 1/8 oz. of shot or less. Shot sizes larger than 7 1/2 and
smaller than 9 are not permitted. Shooters are encouraged to bring their own gun,
however, limited club guns are available. Hearing and eye protection must be
worn on the field. The club has loaner glasses available and will provide ear
plugs to those who need them. Coaching:
Limited
coaching is available at practice. Many experienced shooters are willing to
help new shooters learn the games and basic techniques. Advanced coaching is
provided by Ben Berka of AA Shooting Instruction as his schedule
permits. Weather:
Practice will be held each Thursday night,
weather permitting. If it is raining on campus at 6:00, there will be no
practice. Each fall, the date of the last practice will be
announced through the club e-mail list. Fall practice will run until
Thanksgiving break, or until snow no longer permits driving back to the
range. The first spring practice of the year will also
be announced over the club e-mail list when the road back to the range is
cleared for us to drive on it. |
