Children Water Festival 2006

The festival was held in DMACC campus, Ankeny, IA. Our displays were located in Building 13--their only exhibition hall. We had water filtration model and water tasting game to show about 1,700 fifth graders from all around Iowa. Our model and the game received a lot of attention from the children because the children could have hand-on experience. Even though the children had only a few minutes to see all 20 displays, they actually lined up at our display to play the game. It was very successful.

Andy, our IWPCA Liaison, was telling children about how Wastewater Treatment Plant treat our waste. Children were assigned to be water, oxygen, sand, fat&oil, bacteria, etc, and they would travel through several unit processes along wastewater treatment train. At the end, they all had great fun.
