Culture/Identity Based Political & Activism Service & Volunteerism


The principal objectives of the Association shall be to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of all citizens; to achieve equality of rights and eliminate race prejudice among the citizens of the United States; to remove all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes; to seek legislation and policies at the local level or at other levels which advance the goals of the Association; to oppose legislation and policies which are adverse to the goals of the Association; to inform the public of the adverse effects of racial discrimination and to seek its elimination; to educate persons as to their constitutional rights and to take all lawful action to secure the exercise thereof, and to take any other lawful action in furtherance of these objectives, consistent with the NAACP's Articles of Incorporation and national Constitution. In addition, its objectives shall be to inform students of the problems affecting racial and ethnic minorities; to encourage the harmonious cooperation between different peoples; to stimulate an appreciation of the contributions of people of color to civilization; and to develop an intelligent, militant, effective leadership. These objectives shall be pursued in accordance with the policies of the Association within the framework of university regulations.

Membership Qualifications Any Registered Student at ISU in good standing with the University. Must accept the terms of the Constitution and adhere to the following: (a) Each member of the Iowa State University Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People must join a committee. (b) Each member must notify the Secretary prior to the meeting date if they are unable to attend. (c) All members shall attend at least one event sponsored or co-sponsored event by the Chapter per semester
