Since its founding in 1880 the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) strives to be the premier worldwide organization for promoting the art, science, and practice of mechanical engineering. Today ASME is comprised of over 125,000 members from around the globe, making up over 400 sections and student sections. The society serves engineering professionals, students, and educators alike. The section of ASME at Iowa State University is completely student run. It provides student members with the opportunities to grow beyond the classroom. The section has many activities throughout the academic year that are geared towards extended learning. These include industry sponsored meetings, professional discussions, and design competitions. Company representatives frequently participate in our regularly scheduled events to meet ASME members, and learn more about member’s participation in design competitions, student professional development conferences and community outreach.

Welcome to ASME

Here's a little bit more about us:

We meet often, hearing from engineering companies and their employees about what they do, and visit local facilities for tours. Most companies you will see at the career fair, but through ASME will have a chance to network with.

We welcome anyone and are eager to meet you all this semester. A huge benefit of our club is that we provide food at meetings and charge zero dues to be a member.

Meeting other students is a big part of our club. Here, you get to network with students, educators, and professionals and prepare for a career or internship.

If you are a new member or interested in becoming a member, navigate to the join page of this site (and/or click subscribe). Please reach out to one of the officers if you have any questions.

Best of luck this semester!
