Description

To act as a professional group for the students of the Rhetoric and Professional Communication PhD and Rhetoric, Composition, and Professional Communication MA programs. To evaluate, organize, implement, and develop services that meet the professional and academic needs of rhetoric graduate students. To act as a channel of communication between the rhetoric graduate students and rhetoric faculty. To address issues and concerns expressed by rhetoric graduate students. To support the development of leadership and communication skills of its members.

Allowed Members All RPC graduate students
Allowed Officers Currently enrolled RPC graduate students
Membership Qualifications Must be nominated by another member of Phorum
Membership Restrictions Must be able to fulfill duties and must accept nomination
Elections/Selection All officers are nominated in a Moodle poll by other members of Phorum. Once officers have had a chance to turn down a nomination, a general election is held.
Meetings About once a month or as needed, the Phorum officers will meet to discuss RPC affairs and the speaker series schedule

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Phorum's primary function is to host a speaker series. Twice per semester we have an online chat with a leading member of our field.

Description of Special Events

Every March through April Phorum hosts potential students who have been accepted into our graduate program. This requires coordinating rides, activities, email exchanges, and other functions to help our guests feel welcome and ensure that they have their questions answered.
