Description

The Stand-Up Comedy Club is a group dedicated to offering comedy opportunities to its members. Stand-Up comedy is a comedy style in which comedians perform original routines in front of live audiences. The group is composed of new and experienced student comedians who write, edit and perform original stand-up comedy routines. On occasion the club will bring in a traveling comedian to do a Q&A or joke writing workshop. Learning from professional comedians is one of the best ways to learn comedy. This dates back to the founding of the club, the original members were graduates of "Gavin Jerome's Comedy College", formerly a seminar offered at Iowa State University, although membership is open to all ISU students. Prospective members are encouraged to read and work through "Gavin Jerome's Comedy College How-To Handbook". If you want a copy of the book, we have copies of it at club. The club performs regularly, in places such as Iowa State's campus, bars, comedy clubs, theaters, and other venues. If you're interested in performing stand-up comedy, come to a weekly meeting - 6pm on Wednesdays in Carver 0204. At these meetings we will work on writing, editing and practicing jokes. Please contact a club officer with any questions about the club. If you are looking to book entertainment for your show, look no further than the stand-up comedy club! The Stand Up Comedy Club does showcase style shows on request, with each comic running around 10 minutes each. Please contact a club officer with booking inquiries.
