Description
American Institute of Steel Construction offers Civil Engineering students, undergraduate or graduate, the opportunity to gather on campus and meet as a group to exchange steel-related knowledge, engage in educational activities, and to network with peers and industry representatives. Additionally, AISC supports the Iowa State University's Student Steel Bridge Competition (SSBC) team. This team competes in a regional competition every Spring, and strives to compete nationally. Moreover, a selected group of students will attend AISC's NASCC: The Steel Conference as a group every year.

| Membership Restrictions |
Have to be in Civil or Construction Engineering. All other majors have to be approved by the Cabinet. |
| Elections/Selection |
Elections are held in the Spring after the Steel Bridge Competition. Freshman Representative elections are held in the Fall. |

Meetings are typically on Tuesday and Thursdays at 6:30 pm. |
Description of Regular Meetings/Activities
| General meetings for the Fall and Spring are typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 pm. The first couple of meetings of a new year are strictly informational meetings and trainings. Then the meeting will take place in the lab, fabricating and welding the bridge. Moreover, AISC club sells pizza in Town Engineering Building weekly for fundraising. |
Description of Special Events
| AISC Studnet Steel Bridge Competition:
The SSBC has two levels, regional competition and national competition. The Midwest Regional is typically late March and the National Competition is held in May. |
| NASCC: The Steel Conference:
Every year, Iowa State University AISC Club sends around 8 students to the Steel Conference to show off the competition bridge. |
| Intramurals: :
We will be participating in Iowa State Intramurals including bowling, broomball, softball, and more. |
| Tours:
Throughout the academic year, AISC club will tour manufacturing facilities of sponsors or steel fabricators.

| Speaker Meetings:
A few times per semester, AISC will invite professional engineers to speak about the industry. |
