Membership Qualifications * Graduate students must have completed one semester of their sociology graduate degree studies with a B GPA or better. • Undergraduates must be sociology majors or demonstrate a serious interest in sociology within an official program of a host institution with a chartered chapter of the Society. Students must: Be at least a junior; Rank in the top 35% of their class, or an overall GPA of 3.3 Have a sociology GPA of at least 3.0; Have taken at least four courses in sociology at the host institution • Graduate students must: Have completed at least one-half year of graduate study in sociology;Have a graduate grade-point average of ‘B’ or better; Continue to be matriculated in a program of study leading toward a graduate degree in sociology at the host institution • Faculty members must: Be employed full-time at the host institution; Have been conferred the Ph.D. in sociology or be employed as a sociologist prior to initiation
Membership Restrictions You must be classified as a junior or higher majoring in sociology or have take at least taken four course in sociology.
Elections/Selection Elections are conducted in April for the following school year. Nominations are taken throughout the month and announced at the End of the Year Banquet.
Meetings Bi-semester: September, November, February, April

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Meetings are conducted twice a semester in conjunction with Student Organization of Sociologists and are typically 30 minutes to an hour. Meetings are used to discuss old and business as well as special events or social activities.

Description of Special Events

The End of The Year Banquet for the Sociology Department is held in April of every year. Awards and scholarships are awarded as well as initiating new members and announcing new officers.
