The mission of African Students Association (ASA) is to build a community that celebrates African cultures and heritage, while promoting diversity, intellectual empowerment, and academic success and advancement. ASA is an Iowa State University (ISU) student organization for all registered ISU students and visiting scholars to Ames, who are interested in learning about African cultures.

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

We meet every other Friday each month at 6:00 PM. Our meetings consist of discussions, resource seminars, and informational sessions. We incorporate fun activities for our meetings such as African Game Night, Rec Night, Movie Night, volunteering, and more.

Description of Special Events

African Night is our biggest event of the academic school year. There are live performances, guest speakers, fashion show, complementary dinner with authentic African cuisine, and more. Our other large events include Dance Hall Night and our very own World Cup soccer tournaments.
