The BCB GSO will be participating in this year's "Taking the Road Less Traveled" (TRLT) session. TRLT is a career exploration conference to encourage girls in middle schools to consider careers in STEM fields. You can find more about the conference here:
This year, the sessions will be held on Thursdays October 25th and November 8th. The session will include short presentations about current research in bioinformatics and activities to engage the students. This is a great opportunity to interact with the community and give something back to the future STEM scientists.
Cracking the Human Code
Have you ever wondered what goes into sequencing a genome, how scientists can tell which species are closely related, or what "big data" is, exactly? Learn through hands-on activities the answers to these questions and more, and how bioinformaticians bridge the gap between computer science and biology to solve some of the biggest problems facing the scientific community today.
Date & Time: 10/25/2018 at 10:40-11:25 & 1:10-1:55
Location: Campanile Room
Lunch will be provided
If you are interested in participating, please email BCB GSO Outreach Coordinator Valeria Velasquez Zapata (firstname.lastname@example.org) to set set up a time for a planning meeting.
