The ISU Film Producers Club is focused on the creation, production and showcasing of student films as well as educating members on film styles, creation, production, and appreciation of motion picture. As Iowa State University does not have a film production or film studies major, this club provides an outlet for students who wish to write, direct, produce, video graph, act in, learn about, or simply enjoy films. Throughout the year, students have the opportunity write and create short films as well as watch, analyze, and discuss classic and modern films. The club also has a website which showcases some of the clubs productions, news, calendar of events, resources, and advertises the club to prospective members.

Weekly Meeting Update and 2 Week Project Info

Hello, hello to all my favorite cinephiles! I hope midterm blues are nothing more than a bump in the road at this point as we advance throughout the semester. I am happy to announce that this week we will begin our semesterly 2 Week Project! As all of you have come to meetings I hope you have made yourselves acquainted with many other members throughout your time here. For this project allows the most time and reward of them all! The 2 Week project is a way to get all of your creative juices flowing and it is designed to really make you think about how you to want to produce your project. Now, the main theme or overall genre of your project is Mystery, adding mystery elements to your plot could also emphasize creative shots and story telling. The sky is the limit at how it is that you want to approach this. Oh, and did I mention there was a prize attached along with this? The film to get massive renown when we show them, that team will get a wonderful gift card to be used at any cinema near you! Now then, prepare your scripts and your creativity! More information will be available as we meet this Thursday, Howe Hall 1252, 7 PM!
Also also, if you could all fill out the 48 Hour Film Festival to Choose a Date, that would be wonderful.

Meeting Info For 2/29/24

Hello to all my favorite cinephiles! I have a small message this week as we approach week two of your 2 Week Project. I can't wait to see what you all come up with, so on that note this week you don't necessarily need to meet at the usual meeting location, Howe 1252 @ 7 PM, if you and your group already decided on what to film that day or meet somehwere else beforehand. If you have any questions, please message me to get you all set and figured out. On that note I leave you all to your creative endeavors. We will be presenting all the videos submitted the next meeting right before spring break, on our meeting on March 7th. Also, the official 48 Hour Film Festival sign up sheet is available, if you plan to participate, please fill it out as soon as possible.

Meeting Info and Annoucements for 3/7/2024

@everyone
Hello my favorite and fellow Cinephiles! I hope everyone is looking forward to your most deserved spring break which will soon be upon us. Yet before that, your council and I have been speaking and we have decided to change the schedule a bit for this week. We will be hosting our Oscar Film Selection Watch Party this week instead after we come back from break for many different reasons. So what that means is that we will be viewing our two week projects that all of you have been working on, select a winner and yes there is a prize of a 25$ gift card, and then watch the selected film. The film choices will ultimately be up to you from a few options your officers came up with. There are a total of 4 officers and each will have a list of 3 films. From there we will narrow it down for the feature film. Yet, what's a party without pizza?! We will have pizza and soda for you that night as well to enjoy with your entertainment. Lastly, 48 Hour Film Festival will be postponed until the weekend after we come back from spring break, more info coming soon. With that I hope you all have a wonderful day and I hope to see you there! (If you haven't remembered the room, it's still Howe 1252 @ 7 PM)

Alvaro J. Escalante

Meeting Info for 3/21/24

Hello to all my favorite cinephiles! I hope your spring break was as great as the Oscars event that took place last weekend, or better. I hope you are all energized and ready to come back, some to dreaded exams. Regardless, if you don't have exams this Thursday, I hope to see you at our weekly meeting, Howe Hall @ 7:00 PM. In honor of the Oscars, this week you and your group will make a Oscar Bait type of short or even a trailer for such a film that doesn't exist! Now, I'm sure you have some questions about what classifies as Oscar Bait and to place it simple, its taking something deep and profound but at the same time it's so shallow that everything else is meaningless. I could give you some examples but the list is quite huge. Lastly, 48 Hour Film Festival is this WEEKEND! If you still want to sign up, the link is here: https://forms.gle/Vt484gaKNDZVY2cr5
Please do so before Friday to Ensure a Place.
Your President,
Alvaro J. Escalante

Meeting Info for 3/28/24

Hello to all my favorite cinephiles! I hope your week has started with just the right amount of spring in the air, since you know we technically are in spring, just don't tell the snow and cold weather that. Since we are in the topic of weird and unexpected expectations, let's talk about what we will be doing this week! That's right, put your Hollywood Execs hats on and decide the fate of a franchise or IP that does not need to continue somehow. I'm sure you are all aware of how these things work, something that doesn't need a sequel, spin off, or continuation, well happens. So with that, come this Thursday, at 7 PM, Howe Hall 1252, with loads of ideas!

Meeting Info For Thursday, April 4th, 2024

First of all, I want to apologize for sending this message out so late. I've been in talks with a special guest that will be making a appearance this Thursday. I won't go into too much detail since for those who end up going, look foward to meeting with someone who has been in the Cinema Industry for a bit who wishes to expand his abilities to Ames. Now, because of that, the prompt for this week will still happen if we have time. The prompt was for you and your group to create a trailer for a film that doesn't exist. Sounds pretty standard right? You can do and add whatever you want to it, but the main premise is you need to get us the audience hooked on it and to actually want to see it.
That is all I have for now, I hope to see you all there, Howe 1252 @ 7:00 PM

Meeting Info for Thursday April 4th, 2025

Hello my favorite cinephiles, I hope you are all enjoying this spring air. Doesn't it feel nice being able to enjoy some nice weather for a change given our not one, not two, but 3 false springs in a row? I know this kind of weather elevates the mood and especially for me it gets me in the mood for some tall tales and legends. Tales and legends, or even myths, have built the foundation about what we know today in societal norms and behavioral norms as well. Which is why this Thursday, that's exactly what I want you all to do! I want you to either adapt a pre existing myth or tall tale and mix it the way only you know how! Yet, if you are feeling even more adventurous, create a original myth or tall tale. What does it exactly entail, well as long as their is a take away message that would be enough. Can't wait to see you all this Thursday, Howe Hall 1252, 7:00 PM!
