The Iowa State Chess Chess Club offers students the opportunity to play chess with their peers in a low-stress environment. We also host several chess tournaments a year for those who seek a more competitive game. We are also in the process of forming a chess team to compete nationally. Students and members of the general public of all skill levels, from beginner to master, are welcome to join us for an exciting game of chess! Please see the Description of meetings section for our current meeting place and time.

The officers of the club are more than happy to teach chess lessons and help you improve as a player, as well as get you acquainted to the other members of the club! Anyone can attend the club, and we welcome you to bring your friends and join the community of chess enthusiasts to improve your skills and participate in friendly competition. It's the perfect way to enjoy your Monday nights while sharpening your skills.

Rated Tournament

This semester the Chess Club is planning on organizing another rated chess tournament. It will consist of at least three rounds and will feature a 60+5 time constraint.

This is the perfect opportunity to show what skills you have acquired throughout the entire semester and put yourself up to the challenge of making it as far as you can in the tournament! All players are welcome to participate and we strongly encourage you to do so.

It is expected to take place in the Memorial Union sometime in April.
