Description

The Iowa State University Mountaineering and Climbing Club is a student-run, non-profit organization designed to provide the ISU community with an affordable means to learn about and experience the outdoors, through class room and hands-on instruction in backpacking, rock climbing, ice climbing, and mountaineering. It is our goal to provide a safe learning environment for all those interested in learning these skills, and to help provide the equipment necessary.

Membership Qualifications There are no specific qualifications to be a member of the Mountaineering and Climbing Club.
Membership Restrictions There are no restrictions to membership.
Elections/Selection Elections for all positions are held on the last weekly meeting of the spring semester. Those elected will hold the positions the following fall and spring semesters. If there are any positions that open up for spring semester, elections for just those positions will be held at the last weekly meeting of fall semester. Summers will be covered by either the established officers (preferred) or possibly by newly elected members, depending on availability.
Meetings Usually 8:00pm Mondays in Beyer 1308. (Fall and spring semesters, when classes are held on Monday.) No meetings in summer, on university holidays, Thanksgiving break, spring break, or during dead week or finals week.

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Weekly club meetings are usually held at 8:00pm Mondays in Beyer 1308. (Fall and spring semesters, when classes are held on Monday.) Beginners and other prospective members are welcome at the meetings, so come check us out and bring your friends! No meetings in summer, on university holidays, Thanksgiving break, spring break, or during dead week or finals week.

Description of Special Events

The club offers trips for members to climb outdoors and compete at climbing gyms. There are several day trips or weekend trips throughout the semester, as well as longer trips for Thanksgiving break and spring break.
