The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) is dedicated to fostering the education and leadership skills of conservative university women.  Specifically at Iowa State University, NeW is devoted to preparing young women for life in the professional field, expanding intellectual diversity through educational opportunities and community interaction. NeW encourages women to discover and define their personal values while enabling them to defend their beliefs in a universal setting.

Allowed Members No restrictions
Allowed Officers Any member of NeW who meets the qualifications
Membership Qualifications All officers of NeW must be registered for a minimum of 9 credit hours in the fall and spring semester at Iowa State University. In the summer term, officers do not need to be registered for classes. At all times, officers must have a 2.0 GPA.
Membership Restrictions No restrictions
Elections/Selection Officers of NeW will hold their officer position of the fall and spring semester of one consecutive school year. Elections will be held for all positions in which the previous officer no longer wishes to hold that position. New officers selected at the end of the spring semester must use the summer term as a way of networking and learning the responsibilities of the specific position.
Meetings Bi-Weekly

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Meetings will typically be held bi-weekly, and will start off with a discussion of current events, and a book or article discussion, announcements on upcoming events and end with some time for questions. NeW hosts speakers, brings panels to campus, and other activism events. The Iowa State Chapter of NeW also participates in national events in some capacity.

Description of Special Events

NeW Anniversary (September): September 29 is NeW’s Anniversary. NeW Chapters across the country celebrate NeW’s Anniversary on September 29 by hosting recruiting events.
ConSERVative Month (November): NeW College Chapters organize service projects in their local community this month to show the importance of local service.
The Gentlemen Showcase (February): Each spring semester, NeW holds a national contest to recognize and honor gentlemen on college campuses. Each campus where a NeW Chapter in installed, will nominate men for this national contest.
CPAC Dessert Party (March): The NeW Dessert Party is held during the Conservative Political Action Conference. National dues-paying members are able to apply for travel scholarships to DC to attend this event, which is the largest gathering of conservatives
Women's History Month (March): Celebrate conservative women by hosting speakers, hosting a social, or creating a flyering campaign.
